After reviewing several types of standby/full house generators, Kohler became the overwhelming choice.  Using Dutch Oil/Propane for several of our home projects, they were contacted and after an inspection of our home by Jeff, a proposal was forwarded to us after consulting with their electrical contractor who is an authorized Kohler Generator Dealer.  

Within four weeks, the three-day installation began.   We met with Jason, owner of the electrical contractor company, to discuss all the details of the project and what options that we wanted installed.  That afternoon, the Kohler 20 Kw generator was secured in place. The next day two highly skilled electricians began work on the formal installation.  I say skilled because the work they performed was equal to what I have experienced in industry working for 48 years in the Technical Service/Field Service Department of a major utility steam power plant manufacturer.  All the cabling, conduit and panel layouts were done with all the professionalism and perfection that we have experienced with Dutch.  

While this was in progress, the personnel from Dutch Propane changed out our simple single propane storage system to resemble a true “tank farm” to supply fuel to the generator.  As was the case with other projects provided to us by Dutch, the work was done with the utmost professionalism.  All the tanks properly secured with all the connections and tubing runs done to perfection, with square corners and parallel lines.  

The next day, the installation was tested, the control systems programmed by the electrical contractor and the entire installation certified to be Code Compliant by the local building inspector.  

As Jeff stated during the installation, you will probably never need this system but it is a true insurance policy for the future.  Little did we know that less than two weeks later the state would experience the devastation of a tropical storm and the loss of power to the majority of the state.  BUT the Kohler Generator performed flawlessly.  Ten seconds after we lost power, the generator started up and everything was back on line.  In fact I am writing this memo under the power of the Kohler Generator.  Thank You Dutch Propane for a JOB WELL DONE!!
